A newborn girl was rescued from a garbage dump by Rescue 1122 on Saturday.


A Rescue 1122 spokesman said one Salman Farsi was passing through Samjidabad Colony on Chand Raat when he heard the child’s cries from a dumpster. He said on inspection, Farsi found a baby girl in a shoe box.

Farsi, a fruit vendor, informed Resuce 1122 who took the child to Nishtar Hospital after giving it first aid. The spokesman said the baby was four hours old when it was found. He said she had several cuts and bruises on her body.

A spokesman of Nishtar Medical Hospital said the child had been brought to the emergency ward where it had been treated for bruises to her hands and cheeks.
