Minister for Food Haji Qalandar Khan Lodhi has ordered a 50% decrease in transportation costs of wheat following a reduction in fuel prices during the current quarter.


This was stated in a handout issued by the information department. According to the document, the minister took the decision during a meeting of the provincial food committee held at the Civil Secretariat.


The meeting was convened to review the price of petroleum, oil and lubricants for wheat transportation for the current and next quarter. The meeting was attended by Food Director Muhammad Anwar Khan and various representatives from finance and law departments.


“The decision will result in a reduction of Rs9.3 million in the transportation bills of contractors,” read the handout. The handout added the decrease will apply to the “inter-provincial and inter-district supply of wheat to various depots and godowns. Lodhi expressed optimism reduction in transportation charges will directly benefit everyone.”
