LAHORE:

Lahore High Court dismissed on Tuesday a bail application by Uzma Rao alias Tooba in the murder case of model Abeera.

Justice Arshad Mahmood Tabassum heard the matter.

Her counsel said she had been nominated in the case although no witness had recorded statement against her. The lawyer said that a sessions court had dismissed her bail application. He said that Tooba was innocent, and requested the court to grant her bail and set aside the verdict of the sessions court.

The prosecution argued against the plea. It said sufficient evidence was available against the accused, including CCTV footage.

The court then dismissed the application.

Shera Kot police had registered a case against Tooba and her two accomplices for killing Abeera Iqbal, a student at Punjab University. Tooba had allegedly killed her on January 12 and dumped the body at Shera Kot bus station on January 13.
