Suspected robber shot dead in Peshawar encounter

A police officer was also injured in the exchange of fire

PESHAWAR: A suspected mobile snatcher was killed by the Yakatoot police in an alleged encounter in Murshadabad area of Peshawar late on Monday evening.

Police said that they had received reports of several mobile and cash snatching incidents in the area after which they started patrolling the locality.

They soon received a tip that three suspected robbers were present in the graveyard, following which police surrounded the area. The suspects opened fire at the police and tried to escape. The police retaliated by firing on the suspects killing on.  One police officer was also injured in the exchange of fire.

The suspect killed by police firing was identified as Qasar Sha, a resident of Badhaber.

The injured constable Ibarar was rushed to the hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

Other two robbers managed to escape.
