Togh sarai camp: Displaced child dies in landslide

The IDPs said the medical camp provided by UNICEF was not functional.

HANGU: A landslide in Hangu in the area of Togh Sarai camp for the internally displaced killed a seven-year-old child and severely injured three others. According to officials of Saddar police station, the children were playing outside when a landslide hit the area. The people of the camp rescued eight-year-old Jamila Bibi, six-year-old Noorshad Bibi and the six-year-old Haiderullah from the rubble. However, Irafanullah succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot. After the incident, residents of the camp protested against the relevant authorities for their lack of medical supplies and facilities. The IDPs said the medical camp provided by UNICEF was not functional. They said there were no hospitals or nurses in the camp. The mourners threatened to set fire to the tents if medical staff was not made available within a day.
