Justice Served : Murder convict sentenced to death

He would have to undergo six months imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine.

BAHAWALPUR: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday sentenced a man convicted of murder to death and fined him Rs500,000. The prosecution said Muhammad Azhar had abducted a six-year-old boy from Khanpur and had demanded Rs2.5 million from his mother two years ago. He had later strangled the boy and left the body in a sugar cane field, prosecution said. Khanpur Saddar police had arrested him in a raid. After hearing the witnesses and examining the evidence, Judge Khalid Arshad sentenced Azhar to death and directed him to pay Rs500,000 compensation to the family of the deceased. He would have to undergo six months imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine.
