MULTAN:

Multan police on Friday registered an FIR against four people on the complaint of a human rights lawyer, who said they had been making threats to his life over one of his clients.

According to Shahbaz Gurmani’s complaint registered at Cantt police station, Zulfiqar Sidhu, Taufiq, Ramazan Faizi and Asim Dogar and 25 unidentified people had told him to withdraw from the case or suffer the same fate as Rashid Rehman, a lawyer who had been shot dead at his office.

Gurmani said he was a counsel for Junaid Hafeez, a former Bahauddin Zakariya University lecturer.

Gurmani said following a hearing of the bail petition for his client, some men had grabbed him outside told him to withdraw from the case or he would be killed.
