Consumer action: Proprietor sent notice for selling ‘substandard’ doors

A consumer court issued a notice to a home accessories proprietor on Friday in a suit seeking Rs5,000,000 damages for sale of allegedly substandard wooden doors.


Petitioner Saleem, a resident of DHA, said the wood used in the doors installed at his newly constructed house by the respondent, Ehsan Traders, was not the same as the specimen shown to him at the showroom. He said door handles were also made of substandard material. He said that when he contacted the respondent, he first dillydallied and then refused to replace the doors or give him a refund. Saleem said he had bought the doors for Rs1,100,000.
