Violent day: Four killed, eight injured in Kohat

Six people arrested from Afghan refugee camp

KOHAT: At least four people were killed while eight others were injured in separate incidents of violence in Kohat district on Wednesday.

A man was killed by his opponents in Muhammadzai. According to a police report, Asim Nisar was gunned down by Nazar Gul and his brother Umar Hayat. The assailants managed to escape after committing the crime.

In a separate incident, a man was killed while another person was injured in a firing incident between two rival groups in Jangal Khel. A police report stated Arshad Din was killed while Suleman was critically wounded. Police took the latter into custody.

In another incident, Mohammad Zahid, a resident of Orakzai Agency, was shot dead in Dal Shehzadi. The assailants managed to escape after committing the crime.

A man died when a motorcycle collided with a pick-up truck on Marai Road. The deceased has been identified as Zulfiqar Ali. Cases have been registered in each incident and further investigation is under way.

Clashes in refugee camp

Eight people were injured in armed clashes between two groups at a refugee camp in Gamkhol Sharif. The injured were admitted at Kohat Development Authority Hospital.

According to a police official, the armed clash continued for a few hours, forcing people to remain indoors. Subsequently, police raided the camp and arrested six people. “A large cache of arms was recovered from the camp,” the official said.
