Sho attacked: One killed in police encounter

PESHAWAR: A suspect was killed during an encounter on Ring Road within the jurisdiction of the Faqirabad police station late on Monday night. According to police officials, Faqirabad SHO Dyar Khan was on his way when his vehicle came under attack. They said the police fired back and one of the assailants was killed in the shootout, while his accomplices escaped. The area was soon cordoned off and a search operation was launched to net the fleeing attackers. However, they could not be arrested till the filing of this report. Police recovered the body of the deceased and launched an investigation into the case. A pistol was also found at the site of the attack. Meanwhile, the counter-terrorism department arrested an alleged militant in DI Khan involved in the attack on Kulachi DSP Zahooruddin.
