ANP veteran leader killed in Charsadda targeted killing spree
Dost Muhammad Khan was shot dead by assailants who opened fire at the party’s office in the city
CHARSADDA:
Armed men on Thursday killed a veteran Awami National Party (ANP) leader in Charsadda after a general council was killed in less than a month in the same area.
90-year-old Dost Muhammad Khan alias Dosti Khan, belonging to the Bacha Khan family was on his way to the party’s office located in Utmanzai when armed assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on him.
He was rushed for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

Speaking to Express Tribune, Inspector Ijaz Khan Abazai of Charsadda police station said they have initiated probe into the incident but ruled out personal enmity as being the cause of the killing.
Police are also in an effort to ascertain if it had any sectarian links, he added. “The deceased was uncle of ANP’s MPA Yasmeen Peer Muhammad Khan,” he said.
ANP has announced three days of mourning on the veteran worker’s killing.
Dost Muhammad was ANP’s Tappa Utmanzai president and had served as a personal security guard of late Bacha Khan and was school classmates with late Abdul Wali Khan.

Further, he remained a participant of Utmanzai Jirga constituted and summoned by Bacha Khan in his native village.
On Wednesday, a former ANP leader Tajmeer Shah was gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists in Katozai village of Shabqadar.
According to police, unknown men came at his house and he was fired upon when he came out. Police registered an FIR against the miscreants and ruled out enmity behind the incident.
