LAHORE:

The Chief Minister’s Special Monitoring Unit (SMU) on Wednesday announced the launch of token tax identification stickers in collaboration with the Excise and Taxation Department.

The initiative has been taken as part of the SMU’s Transport Facilitation Programme. The stickers will be available across the province from July 1 onwards. The initiative has been taken to distinguish token taxpayers from tax defaulters at token tax checkpoints. The introduction of the stickers will eliminate the inconvenience caused to taxpayers at the checkpoints. The stickers would be available in lifetime, annual and quarterly varieties and would be made available following the payment of token tax at offices of the E&T Department.

The retro-reflective stickers feature certain security attributes that would make it impossible for them to be replicated. SMU Senior Member Salman Sufi and E&T Secretary Ali Tahir have been leading the Transport Reform Programme in accordance with the instructions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
