FAISALABAD: Jaranwala Saddar police on Wednesday claimed to have shot dead a robber in a shoot out. They said his three accomplices managed to escape.

Police said  a team was transporting Irshad alias Sako, a resident of Chak 600-GB Bahlak, after iftar when some men in a car intercepted the van at Nankana Buchiana Road and freed him. They also took away the weapons from the policemen and fled.


A few hours later, Jaranwala police were informed that four men had robbed a man on Shahkot Road near Chak 58-GB.

When they were found, police asked them to surrender. He said the men shot at the police team.


One of them was killed when police shot back. His accomplices managed to escape. Police said the deceased was identified as Irshad who had been freed by his accomplices.


He said he was wanted in 48 cases of robbery and murder. He said police had also recovered the weapons stolen from them.
