Deadly accident: Five killed as car plunges into canal

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Five people drowned on Saturday after their car fell into a canal.

Police said Shafiq Ahmad was travelling to Rahim Yar Khan from Khanpur along with his family members.

“Their car fell into the Jumman Shah Canal near Kot Samaba. Ahmad, his daughter Hareem, nieces Aisha and Mariam and nephew Sami drowned. The bodies were later pulled out by Rescue 1122 staff,” police said.

Separately, three people were killed in two traffic accidents in the district. Abdus Sami, a resident of Irshad Colony, and his friend Jan Muhammad were travelling on a motorcycle, when they were hit by a car.

Both of them received serious injuries and were later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The car driver fled. In the second accident, Maqbool Ahmad was travelling along with his wife Aneela on a motorcycle when they were hit by a truck.

Aneela fell down on the road and was seriously injured. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. The truck driver fled.
