DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said on Friday that the provincial government had approved the construction of an 11-storey parking plaza at Old Mayor’s House near Chiniot Bazar. He said Rs1,513 had been budgeted for the project.


Talking to newsmen, the DCO said the parking plaza would accommodate 266 shops. The DCO said parking facilities would be provided at nine floors of the plaza. He said the it would have space for 1,500 cars and 3,000 motorbikes.

The DCO said two elevators and eight escalators would be installed. He said generators were provided to ensure continuous power supply. He said old buildings in the area would be demolished to make space for the plaza. The DCO said he hoped the plaza would address parking issues faced by shoppers and traders around eight bazaars near the Clock Tower.
