Pakistan and China will jointly establish ‘IIU New Silk Road School of Technology’. This was agreed in a meeting between a Chinese delegation led by educationist Din Hai Tao and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai. The delegation also consisting of Chinese entrepreneurs offered faculty and management support for the school.

The meeting mainly focused on utilisation of the corridor in developing skilled youth in Pakistan through bilateral cooperation. A memorandum of understanding was also signed according to which China would provide cooperation through universities.

The participants discussed ways of developing platforms of vocational training, scholarships, exchange of students and faculty and other opportunities.

A joint committee would soon be formed so as to arrange a conference on ‘Pak-China Economic Corridor’ in which intellectuals, famous success stories and core leaders of both the countries would participate.

“Pak-China Economic Corridor is a revolutionary step and its materialisation and operationalisation would be a ‘win-win’ situation for both the countries” Yasinzai said.

The rector also apprised that more than 700 on campus Chinese students are acquiring education at IIUI.

“Educational institutions should focus on creating human resource relevant to the needs of society. IIUI is working on same vision because knowing the needs of society is like having solution to the problems” he added.

Chinese delegates said that different organisations of international repute in China are ready to give opportunity to Pakistani students to broaden their exposure and skills.

They also endorsed the suggestion of the rector that at least 50 students from Pakistan’s different areas be selected and given opportunity to learn in China.

Din Hai Tao invited the IIUI rector to visit China and assured all possible support in expanding mutual cooperation. Delegates were later given souvenirs by the rector.
