Water Hazard: Five children drown in canal

They ventured into deep water where they drowned

BAHAWALPUR: Five children drowned while bathing in a canal near Bahawalpur on Thursday. A Rescue 1122 spokesman said seven-year-old Faizan, 12-year-old Salman, eight-year-old Ahsan, 12-year-old Zeeshan and eight-year-old Rehan were bathing in Shashmahi Canal near 11BC bridge. They ventured into deep water where they drowned. Residents of the area tried to rescue the children when they heard their screams. Later, Rescue 1122 was called. Swimmers of Rescue 1122 fished out bodies of Faizan, Salman and Ehsan. Zeeshan and Rehan had not been found till this report was filed.
