Rigging probe: Commission asks parties to submit arguments

ISLAMABAD:

The inquiry commission probing rigging claims in the May 2013 general elections has instructed all political parties to submit their arguments in accordance with its questionnaire.

The commission, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, held an in chambers meeting on Monday.

A statement issued by Commission Secretary Muhammad Hamid Ali stated that “the commission has finished recording of evidence on June 19, all parties are directed, if they so desired, to file written briefs/synopsis/skeleton arguments by June 24 in their submissions the parties shall remain focused on the matters in issue”.

“Accordingly, they (political parties) shall show through evidence produced before the commission how their reply to the questionnaire provided by the commission is made out and show through the evidence produced before the commission how their party’s position in respect to each Term of Reference (TOR) as contained in S 3 (A), (B) and (C) of the Ordinance is made out,” the statement said.
