Policemen attacked at drug dealers’ hideout

A police spokesman said two policemen were injured. He said Garh police had registered a case against 40 people

Two policemen were injured when dozens of drug dealers and their relatives attacked them during a raid at their hideout in Chak 456-GB in Garh area late on Sunday night.


A police spokesman said two policemen were injured. He said Garh police had registered a case against 40 people.

Garh SHO Rai Muhammad Arshad told The Express Tribune that he had taken a team to raid a house in Chak 456-GB on a tip-off.

“We were informed that the house was serving as a den for drug traffickers,” he said.

He said when police entered the building, the inmates threw rocks at them.

He said policemen Muhammad Naveed and Farooq were injured and taken to a hospital where doctors said their condition was stable.

He said the men fled by the time back up teams arrived to aid the police teams.

Arshad said Garh police had registered cases against 40 persons.

He said police teams had been formed to find and arrest the suspects.
