LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge has issued a show cause notice to the Operations SP and sought his reply by June 22 (today) in a petition seeking directives for Baghbanpura police to comply with court orders from September 2014.

The judge also directed the SP to take departmental action against the SHO for his failure to register an FIR against several LESCO officials accused of negligence in removal of a high voltage electricity wire from the roof of petitioner Muhammad Abbas’s house.

Two of Abbas’s relatives had died on apparently accidently touching the wire and receiving an electric shock.

In September 2014, the judge had directed the SHO to record statements of the petitioner, Muhammad Abbas, and the LESCO officials accused of failure to remove a high voltage electricity wire from the roof of petitioner’s house.

Petitioner Abbas had sought registration of a case against a former Shalimar Division executive engineer (XEN) as well as the incumbent, a Shalimar Division additional superintendent, the Bilal Colony Sub-Division SDO and a line superintendent over their alleged failure to remove a high-voltage electricity wire from the roof of his house.

Advocate Muhammad Tariq Batth, counsel for the petitioner, had told the court the petitioner’s two relatives, including his son-in-law, had died in 2012 and 2014, respectively, after receiving an electric shock from the wire.
