LAHORE: A civil judge has issued notice to the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Ijaz Butt, and Wasim Bari in a suit filed by Advocate Dr Farooq Hassan.

The lawyer says that the two have not paid him for assisting them in the inquiry regarding the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team. The petitioner requested the court to attach the properties of the defendants as surety until he is paid the amount the respondents owe him. The property includes three Land Cruisers, four Toyota cars, their own houses in Gulberg, Gujrat and Karachi as well as their salaries and their savings in bank accounts.

Dr Hassan has filed for the recovery of $92,000 in fees for the services he rendered to the PCB in the month-long inquiry held by the Lahore High Court. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is also a party in this matter.

The petitioner also expressed his fear that the defendants may be dismissed by the government any time, making it difficult for him to recover the amount he is owed. After hearing the preliminary arguments, Shahbaz Hussain Ranjha, the presiding civil judge, issued notices to the respondents directing them to appear before the court on January 18.
