Money laundering: LHC to hear Ayan Ali’s bail plea today

Customs officials had arrested Ali on March 14 at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad

The registrar’s office of the principal seat of the Lahore High Court has fixed  model Ayan Ali’s bail petition for hearing on Thursday (today). Ali is accused of laundering money.


Her counsel filed the petition at the Rawalpindi bench which was referred to the chief justice to be fixed at principal seat in Lahore. The chief justice marked the petition to Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa. The date of hearing has not been fixed yet. The petition was filed through Khosa Law Chambers led by former Punjab governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa.

Earlier, Justice Bajwa had heard the bail petition of a suspected accomplice at the Rawalpindi bench and had dismissed it, upholding the decision of a special customs court. Customs officials had arrested Ali on March 14 at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad after $508,000 was recovered from her luggage.
