Bajaur Agency: Five dead, two injured in road accident

Five people died and two others were injured when a pick-up plunged into a ravine in Kamar Sar area of Mamond in Bajaur Agency. The injured were brought to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Khar. Later, Bajaur Political Agent Yahya Akhunzada visited the hospital to enquire about their health.


School blown up

A primary school for boys was partially damaged and a political administration official was injured when improvised explosive devices (IED) went off in two areas in Ghari Gal, Mamond on Wednesday.

Political Tehsildar Abdul Haseeb told The Express Tribune he had received information about an attack by unidentified assailants on the primary school early Wednesday morning. He added he was on his way to check the site when an IED planted on the roadside near the school went off, damaging his vehicle part. Haseeb injured his arm in the blast.

The political administration launched a search operation later in the day and arrested suspects under the collective responsibility clause of the FCR. However, no one had claimed responsibility for the attacks till this report was filed.

Bajaur Agency shares a border with the Afghan province of Kunar.
