Get the look: Be a Hercules muse

Most of us 1990s’-borns had our first encounter with Greek gods and their muses in Disney’s animated series Hercules.

Recently, model Sofia Khan was spotted in avatar inspired by Melopeme, one of Hercules’ five goddesses, at the launch of Versace’s Eros pour Femme fragrance in Karachi. We absolutely loved her look. Here’s a deconstruction of the look that you can follow to unleash your inner goddess.

Dress

Sofia sported a Shehla Chatoor ensemble. Having drawn inspiration from Greek aesthetics, the screen-printed fabric is tethered in a loop with a single strap. This one-shoulder robe has a pleated-asymmetric neckline. With a golden chain on black leather clinging on the waist, the belt gives the right definition to Sofia’s figure while adding depth towards the bottom. Paired with knee-length white capris, the model made the print do the talking. With an extensive variety of screen-printed silks available in the market these days, you can easily pick the one of your choice to carry this look. You can also pair it with leggings or capris to suit your style.

Accessories

As many designers and brands have now ventured into accessories, it won’t be difficult for you to find a similar belt in any local retail store. With many international brands present in the country, this option is easy pickings. We liked how Sofia kept her style minimalist. The black-leather strap watch with a golden dial may already be part of your collection. Just in case you don’t, a solid gold will also work with the outfit. The plain crystal studs are a good option but you can also experiment with pearl studs. The gladiator heels may not be easy to find – most local stores don’t stock them, mainly because they don’t complement the Eastern wear. But as mentioned earlier, international retail stores may have a few options you can opt for.

Hair and make-up

Sofia sported a centre-parted French braid band with the rest of her hair tucked at the back. You can always leave your hair open as dead-straight or with soft curls. Smokey eyes will add depth to your eyes and you can use silver or white eye-pencil on the waterline to make them look bigger and brighter. Sheer bronzer and highlighter with pop-pink lips is the perfect combo for any evening.

You can use Mac’s Black Tied, Print and Forgery eye shadows for smokey eyes. Finish the look with Sephora’s Outrageous Volume Mascara. L’Oreal Glam Bronze Sun Radiance Trio will give you the perfect yet easy blend of highlight and contour. Mac’s Pink Pearl Pop is the tint you can rock the summer with.
