Kerry calls Nawaz, appreciates Pakistan’s counter-terrorism policy

Senator Kerry lauded prime minister's commitment towards establishing a peaceful neighbourhood in South Asia

ISLAMABAD: US Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday appreciated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s counter-terrorism policy and his strong resolve and determination to defeat terrorism.

Senator Kerry telephoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Tuesday evening and conveyed him best wishes and regards from the US Administration.

While exchanging the views on regional situation, Senator Kerry lauded prime minister's commitment towards establishing a peaceful neighbourhood in South Asia.

The US secretary of state commended the state of relations between the two countries, saying both Pakistan and the US had made remarkable progress in bilateral cooperation in all fields.

Expressing his satisfaction over the state of bilateral relations between the two countries, Nawaz said Pakistan attached high importance to enhancement of ties with the US.

Commenting on the efforts to counter terrorism, the premier said the country had a national consensus over the issue.

Claiming that Pakistan's economy had stabilised during last two years, Nawaz said there were opportunities for foreign investors to benefit from investor-friendly policies of the Pakistan government.

Both the leaders also expressed desire to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries, particularly in the field of economy and trade.
