Entertainment has been a vital part of man’s life ever since the history of time. Providing a break from the day-to-day frustrations, it helps restore and retain sanity. When we list down the sources of entertainment available to us, cinema and films top the list.

A decade ago Gwadar was a tiny city but had immense opportunities for entertainment; one of them being Taj Mahal Talkies, a cinema very popular among the locals.

According to gwadar.pakvoices.pk, audiences would enjoy performances by renowned artists such as Sultan Rahi, Mustafa Qureshi, Rangeela and Waheed Murad on a regular basis at the cinema. People would also promote new movies with admirable zeal.

Unfortunately, a decade ago Taj Mahal Talkies was shut down and all that remains is the edifice of a once imposing structure. The crumbling building of Taj Mahal Talkies is now home to immigrants from other provinces and non-native labourers.

Taj Mahal Talkies is one of the most remembered places in Gwadar. People still reminisce at the golden days of the cinema whenever they pass by the crippling structure.

The city has remarkably developed over the period of time but there is no medium of entertainment available. The locals, however, are hopeful that entertainment in this mega city will soon be restored in the coming days.

JilaniC | 8 years ago | Reply It is MOST important that with CPEC project online, that we INVITE China to rebuild this Taj Mahal cinema. Also invite China to screen latest chinese films for BENEFIT of Pakistanis so that we can LEARN Chinese culture and values and language. This is MOST important. We can allow China to give a new good name to new cinema like Great Wall Talkies or even CPEC Talkies. I request government to respond to suggestion. Inshallah with Chinese help we can make progress in rebuilding Gawdar and bring good Chinese entertainment to region. This is wish of all patriot Pakistanis.
