Brand’s fifth outlet in Pakistan is now open at Fortress square

LAHORE: From time to time, the fashion forward look to our country’s diverse cultures for design inspiration, patterns or colours that lend an ethnic touch to our garb. Khaadi is one such brand. It has seamless fused eastern patterns with western elements in clothes, as well as in home textile products, for several years. Khaadi Home opened its first retail outlet in Lahore on Saturday. Their fifth outlet in Pakistan, it is located at the Fortress Square.

The product range includes duvet covers, bed covers, bed sheets, cushion covers, tableware, wall clocks, etc. Some of their items are made from handloom weaving, while others utlilise block printing, embroidery and screen printing. The brand also makes limited furniture items such as exclusive and colorful ottomans, sofas and benches.

The brand is using and promoting the craft of handloom; everything is designed and made locally. With outlets in UAE, UK and Malaysia, Khaadi has grown volumes in the past 17 years.

Farhan Zaka, retail manager at Khaadi Pakistan, says their current bestselling item is their bed sheets. Other notable items include table runners, furniture, trays and notebooks. “We will add more accessories and items for walls. We have recently started including our key stands and wall clocks. Crockery and cutlery has also been added and we will slowly expand this range,” shares Zaka. He adds their prices have been slashed since last year to target a greater market as they feel “Khaadi is Pakistani, and for Pakistan.”

However, not everybody appreciates the eccentric designs and loud hues that Khaadi Homes has to offer. If one does want to bring a touch of ethnic décor like that at Khaadi Homes to their living space, it’s best to start with one object as the focal point and work around it. This could be an ottoman, a table runner or a few cushion covers. The bigger the item is, the better it is. However, one should be careful not to overwhelm the space. Moreover, pick a colour scheme. As ethnic décor is very festive, choose a few colours that work well together.
