PESHAWAR: Amid mounting tension in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the alleged rigging in local government elections, a tripartite alliance in the province has called for a province-wide shutter down strike on June 10.

They also demanded the government’s resignation on its failure to halt mass use of unfair means in the polls.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting of the constituent parties at the residence of senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Najmuddin Khan, Awami National Party's (ANP) Mian Iftikhar Hussain accused Chief Minister Pervez Khattak of orchestrating rigging.

“The CM was the head of the rigging ‘project’ and government is responsible for it,” he alleged.

Lakhkar Khan | 9 years ago | Reply @BookWorm: You said " PTI won election fair and squire". Did you hear, not one ANP, PPP and MLN but also JI reported rigging and they are PTI's ally? You must be one of the PTI supporters who slept through your party cheating and rigging season.
Jawad U Rahman | 9 years ago | Reply @Zeeshan: Did PTI set up an example by asking the elected representative in question to resign? And what about Mr. Gandapur. Shouldn't he be asked to resign until the allegations of ballot box robbery by him are cleared.
