HARIPUR: The home department has issued the black warrants of two more Haripur jail prisoners, said official sources on Friday.

Following the rejection of their mercy petitions, the K-P Home department issued the death warrants of Toti Khan, a resident of Battagram, and Gul Ahmed Khan, a resident of Mardan district, said officials privy to the matter. The former was convicted of killing two brothers while the latter was also sentenced to death for murder.

Both convicts had been on death row in Central Prison Haripur for over ten years. Sources said their death warrants had been received by the jail authorities, but one of the prisoners might not be hanged on the scheduled date. Toti, who was scheduled to be taken to the gallows on June 9, struck a compromise with the family of the brothers he murdered. His application to suspend his execution till further orders was submitted to the court of a Battagram sessions judge and accepted.

However, Gul Ahmed Khan will be hanged sometime during the next six days and is likely to have a final meeting with his family.

Khurrum Malik, a murder convict, was hanged in Haripur jail on May 28. This was the first ever execution of in the history of Central Prison Haripur.
