LAHORE: The district government finalised arrangements for monsoon season at a meeting chaired by DCO Muhammad Usman on Wednesday. The DCO stressed the need for TMAs to be better prepared for monsoon this year than they were last year. He advised the town administration, the Water and Sanitation Authority and the Lahore Waste Management Company to keep a generator and machinery necessary to drain water on standby at all times. He said faults in electricity wiring should be fixed on priority so that the number of deaths caused by electric shocks could be brought down. He said evacuation and demolition of dangerous buildings in the city was underway. Dangerous unoccupied buildings must be sealed and lists of homeless people should be made, he said. He directed Rescue-1122 and Civil Defence officials to finalise their arrangements for the monsoon season.  MNA Pervez Malik, MPA Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmad and TMOs were present.
