Uplift: ‘Efforts being made to provide missing facilities at BHUs’

Departmental action initiated against three doctors for absence from work

MULTAN: All efforts are being made to provide electricity, running water and other facilities at all basic health units (BHUs) in the district, Dera Ghazi Khan DCO Nadeemur Rehman said on Tuesday.

He was addressing a health department meeting held to review the progress on the roadmap given by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to improve the working of the BHUs till June 15.

Rehman said that new transformers were being installed to provide electricity to BHUs located in remote areas till mid June.

“Solar panels will be used to provide electricity to several BHUs,” he said. Rehman directed BHU staff to present the details of vaccination shots and other necessary medicines stored at the facilities within 15 days.

“We are taking steps to provide uninterrupted water supply and electricity along with better sewerage conditions at all BHUs.

He directed all doctors and paramedical staff working at BHUs to perform their duty diligently. He said that the Health Department should convene more meetings to monitor the progress made on the CM’s roadmap.

He directed the health department officials to strictly monitor the performance of doctors and paramedical staff posted at BHUs. He asked them to submit a weekly report in this regard.

The meeting also decided to issue show-cause notices to three doctors, posted at BHUs, for absence from duty. The doctors have been asked to submit their replies in 15 days.

The district administration also directed the Health Department to deduct the pay of five BHU paramedics.

Several Health Department officials including Dr Munawwar Abbas, Ghulam Yasin, Dr Abdur Rahman, Dr Khaleel Ahmad, Dr Jalal Ahmad, Dr Qasim Qureshi, Dr Nosheen Zahra, Dr Nayaz and Kaleemullah Tahir were also present at the occasion.
