KARACHI: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! That’s the general advice floating around in the summers; and rightly so. Fruit juices are a great way to go, as they replenish the salts and minerals lost in the heat, as well as hydrate.

Here’s a juice recipe that’s not only wonderful to taste but also undeniably refreshing! Thank God for Pineapple.

Ingredients:

1 medium sized pineapple - This magic fruit is more than 79 per cent vitamin C; great for building up immunity and keeping skin looking healthy.

1 medium sized lemon - A kitchen staple, lemons are nearly 90 per cent vitamin C, much loved for their cleansing properties.

1 1-cm cube of ginger - Boosts digestive health and adds super zing to any recipe

¼ cup of sugar

Ice cubes

2 glasses of water

Basil to dress

Method:

Peel and cut the pineapple into large chunks.

Peel the lemon and ginger.

Load the juicer shaft with pineapple and sandwich the lemon and ginger in between.

Collect juice in a jug filled with the ice and two glasses of water.

Add the ¼ cup of sugar and broken up basil leaves.

Stir and taste.

There you have it. Your indispensible summer ally!
