ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have started imposing fines on motorcyclists riding without side mirrors. Police say over 90 per cent bikes on the city roads do not have side mirrors, which has resulted in a number of accidents. Head of the ITP Road Safety Department said that over 500 bikers were being fined daily for the violation. He said police have carried several awareness drives educating motorcyclists about the importance of side mirrors. “A helmet makes it difficult for a rider to move their head around. Therefore, side mirrors are extremely important for them to see the traffic behind them,” said Shehzad Aslam, a resident of Sector G-9.
