The Indian MBA graduate who made headlines after being denied a job by a Mumbai-based diamond firm for being a Muslim, has been hired by Ahmedabad-based Adani group.

"I received about a dozen offers following the religious discrimination I had to face. My mailbox is flooded with solidarity messages," said Zeeshan Khan, 22, who was in Ahmedabad to complete formalities at Adani's corporate office.

"Among all the offers I got, this was the best," Zeeshan said, who is set to join the group's Mumbai office as an executive trainee.

The reason why Zeeshan chose to join Adani, according to him, it is one of the biggest integrated infrastructure companies in the country.

"We encourage talent irrespective of caste, creed and religion. We found Zeeshan a competent candidate and hence a job was offered," said an Adani spokesperson.

Earlier this month, Zeeshan sent an email application to Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd for a marketing job, after which he received a prompt reply: "We regret to inform you that we hire only non-Muslim candidates."

Zeeshan and his friends put out a screenshot of the mail on social media and it went viral.

Khan, who did his MBA in Mumbai, approached the Mumbai police and a case was registered against the company under section 153B of the IPC, which deals with national integration and provides for a jail term of up to three years for the guilty.

Jim | 9 years ago | Reply This is the spirit of India. It is not a perfect country and there will always be stray examples of discrimination (not just against Muslims), but by and large it is a very tolerant country, unlike Pakistan where discrimination is constitutionally enshrined after the country was extracted on the basis of discrimination (i.e Muslims are different from Hindus). Of course, your media (Hamid Mir) feasted on this story, as also the one about a young Muslim woman who was evicted from her house. Guess what, it turns out she lied: She was evicted because she had issues with the broker, not because she was a Muslim. Sorry Pakistan, you may want to believe the worst about India, but while it is not perfect, it is a country that has no illwill towards its 200 million Muslims who are proud ot call India their own. You can't say that about your own Muslim minorities who you don't even regard as Muslim, Pakistan.
