QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly has unanimously adopted a resolution to increase the job quota in the federal government for engineers.

The Balochistan Assembly session started with the delay of an hour and was chaired by engineer Zamaruk Khan Achakzai on Thursday.

The resolution was tabled by JUI-F’s Husan Bano which stated that every year some 1,800 engineers of Balochistan pass out from different universities of the country and 5,000 engineers are registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council. There is no policy to adjust them or provide them with job opportunities.

The resolution demanded that provincial governments approach the federal government for immediate implementation of the federal government’s job quota. The resolution demanded an increase in the job quota for unemployed engineers.

Discussing the resolution, National Party leader Haji Islam said people are making fake domiciles of Balochistan in order to get jobs in the federal government. “These injustices with the people of Balochistan have been going on for many years,” he said.

Posts have been vacant
for the last 15 years but no one is filling them, alleged Haji Islam. He also stated that bribes of around Rs2 million were demanded to fill
these posts.

PML-Q’s Ruqiya Hashmi said the legislators should not table the resolution for the sake of making headlines in newspapers.

National Party’s Yasmeen Lehri said that they had heard from the federal government that they had increased the Balochistan quota for federal posts but nothing concrete had been done to this date.
