KARACHI: The Pirabad SHO found himself in hot water on Monday after he allegedly beat up a court staffer. SHO Ijaz Brohi was removed from his post and an inquiry was launched at the behest of West district judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon. Imran, a court stenographer, contended that he was on his way home in the Pirabad area on Sunday when he encountered a water shortage protest. A police van parked at the end of a street near the protest barred the protesters from advancing, he said, adding that he asked to be let through since he lived there. Imran said he was badly beaten when the SHO ordered his subordinates to “teach him a lesson”, after hurling abuses at him. Brohi was summoned to court and submitted an apology that the court turned down.
