DCO Noorul Amin Mengal directed the Buildings Department on Sunday to complete the construction of a burn unit at Allied Hospital by June 15.
Mengal expressed dissatisfaction over the delay and warned officials of the Buildings Department that if work was not completed on time, action would be taken against them.
He issued the directives while on a visit to the hospital.
The DCO also checked other facilities at the hospital. He visited the emergency ward and spoke to the patients and their attendants about their problems and suggestions.
He took notice of delay in provision of treatment to a patient who was critically injured in a traffic accident and found lying unconscious in the hospital.
Reprimanding hospital staff, the DCO directed the hospital management to ensure better service at the emergency ward. He said that patients at emergency ward should be taken care of immediately.
He said no patient should remain unattended.
Later, the DCO inspected the children’s ward. He directed Buildings Department officials to extend the block. He gave them two weeks to do so.
He said that ventilators, incubators, warmers and other medical machinery would be by district for the extended block. He asked the head of the children’s ward to provide details of required equipment as soon as possible.
