Jinnah Hospital launches free laser lithotripsy

Dr Chaudhry said the costly treatment had been made available for free in the hospital.

The latest treatment for urinary stones, laser lithotripsy, started at Jinnah Hospital on Sunday.

A team led by Professor Naveed Iqbal and Assistant Professor Shabbir Chaudhry treated several kidney patients without surgical tools.

Dr Chaudhry said the costly treatment had been made available for free in the hospital.

Meanwhile, Dr Asad Shah from the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences was elected the General Secretary of the Young Neurosurgeon Forum (YNF) Pakistan in elections held at the 37th Annual National Neurosurgery Conference.

According to the results announced on Sunday, other key office-bearers elected included Dr Khizar Hayat as Joint Secretary, Dr Jahanzeb as Finance Secretary and Dr Wajid as Information Secretary.

The election witnessed turnout of neurosurgeons from across the country.

Dr Asad Shah said on the occasion, "Our goal is to improve the quality of neurosurgery training in Pakistan. We are committed to providing the best training to our young neurosurgeons and will support them in their professional development."
