KARACHI: The police on Sunday disclosed the arrest of 11 supporters of former provincial home minister, Zulfiqar Mirza. The suspects were arrested by a large contingent of police personnel and masked commandos of the Special Security Unit on Saturday. The law enforcers had besieged the Sindh High Court building when Mirza reached the premises after he was not allowed to appear before an anti-terrorism court to extend his bail. The arrests were disclosed by Karachi AIG Ghulam Qadir Thebo at a press conference at the office of the South Zone DIG, where he was accompanied by Central ZoneDIG Feroz Shah and SSP Chaudhry Asad. DIG Feroz Shah said that the extraordinary security arrangements were put in place to provide security to Mirza, adding that the police took action when Mirza’s supporters were planning to attack the police.
