KARACHI:

Sindh's Lady Health Workers (LHWs) have warned the provincial government to regularise them immediately according to the orders of the apex court or they will boycott polio campaigns.

Khairunnisa Memon, the president of the LHW Welfare Association, alleged that the health department was ignoring the orders of the Supreme Court (SC). She said that the SC ordered the government in July 2012 to regularise LWHs.

"The Sindh government has ignored the SC's orders, which is illegal," Memon said, adding that the regularisation of their employment was their "legal right".

"We have not been given salaries for the last five months," Memon said. She said that most families are facing financial problems and that the Sindh government should not play with the sentiments of the health workers.

Memon, along with her fellow LHWs, warned that they will not take part in future polio campaigns if their issues are not resolved.
