With all eyes glued to stars sashaying down the red carpet, celebrities continue to win the battle of the intimidatingly stylish. However, much to our disappointment, the fashionista of Bollywood, who is highly acclaimed for her sartorial sensibilities, Sonam Kapoor has failed miserably to cut a dazzling figure during her second appearance at the premiere of Inside Out. Fashion police got active as her frou frou Elie Saab gown didn’t get her the spotlight.

The charge sheet

Outfit

Did we just spot the Big Bird of Seasame Street? Oh no wait, it’s none other than Sonam. The twitterati took a toll as soon as the actor made her final appearance. One literally suggested that this looks like Rihanna’s Met Gala ‘omelet dress broken into scrambled eggs’.  She wins the trophy for disgracing this ethereal runway collection. The neckline looked like a feathered mop, while a similar train perfectly swept the floor as it was meant to be. The rest of the pocketed lime green gown, based on a sheer fabric and bejeweled with bead work, also didn’t help her to turn heads.

Hair and make-up

While this ethnic beauty doesn’t require any makeover, being an ambassador of a cosmetic brand, she had to wear some tint to justify her affiliation. Sonam sported a pop pink lip colour that completely complemented her ensemble. With Kohled eyes, she tried to maintain her traditional look. An elegant side-swept bun would have worked better than her highly-glossed, center-parted updo.

Accessories

It would have been a sheer disaster, if Sonam had carried anything else. So let’s thank her for being easy on us. She opted for a casual pair of long earrings, that didn’t justify her long floor-kissing gown, at all. Had it been a pair of stone-studded ear studs, she would have worked her usual magic. But as they say, smile is the best accessory anyone can wear; let us just give her some points for her evergreen, vibrant smile.

Who wore it better

Naomi Watts

Watts dazzled a distinguished silver gown. It was designed with a sequined top paired with a feathered floor-sweeping bottom. The stunner made heads turn as she arrived on the red carpet draped in Elie Saab Haute Couture for the opening ceremony and premiere of La Tete Haute. For a plunging neckline, Naomi sported a chunky necklace for distraction and the choice of a simple ear studs just made her sparkle a bit more. Her silver hand cuff drew attention to the pockets of this perfectly tailored silhouette. With a tousled hair bun and a nude look, she just highlighted her natural glow. Overall, the grace with which she carried herself, makes her one of the best dressed so far.

Julianne Moore

Moore stands along Watts in classifying sartorial standards. She really knows how to defy her years and left us wanting for ‘moore’. She sported a grey and black beaded gown by Armani Privé with a feathered bodice. The Still Alice star is a perfect example of ‘less is more’. The bodice was elegantly wrapped around her waist to add depth to her enviable figure. A large pair of emerald earrings perfectly complimented her side-parted, sleek chignon. A nude look added more grace to the 54-year-old actor. She definitely led the way at the opening ceremony by effortlessly carrying her bold look.
