FAISALABAD:

The body of a boy abducted from Bolay Di Jhuggi, near Sargodha Road police station, six days ago was recovered from a canal near Toba Tek Singh on Monday.

Sargodha Road ASP Amir Saud Magsi said Waheed Sajid, a resident of Gulistan Colony, had moved a missing person report stating that his brother Kashif Naveed had left the house on May 11 to pick up some documents from Dr Shabbir from a petrol pump nearby and never returned. He said anonymous callers had later demanded Rs50 million for his release.

The ASP said a police team had detained Safdar Bhatti and Shafqat - friends of Kashif – for investigation.

He said the men told them that they had kidnapped Kashif when they called him to the petrol pump.

He said the men told them that though they had covered their faces, Kashif recognised their voices.

He said the men then killed him and thrown the body in Jhang Branch Canal after packing it in a sack to conceal.

The ASP said police had recovered the body and sent it for an autopsy.
