FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Bar Association (FBA) members boycotted court works on Saturday to press authorities for the constitution of a Lahore High Court (LHC) bench in the division. They also held a meeting where participants vowed to continue to protest until their demands were met. DBA president Muhammad Ayub Sialvi said an LHC bench was the constitutional right of the people. “We have been demanding the bench for many years. We will not stop until the authorities set up a high court bench in Faisalabad,” he told The Express Tribune. “Lawyers in the city often go on a strike. This has delayed my case for years,” said Sufyan Ali Khagga, a litigant from Chak 79 JB. “I am not the only one suffering. Many others litigants are bearing the brunt of the protest movement,” he said. Abdul Majeed, one of the litigants, said he had come to pursue the bail application of his son. “I have been told that lawyers are boycotting courts. Tomorrow being Sunday the courts will be off. This means I will have to wait until Monday to seek bail for my son,” he said.
