FAISALABAD:

Scores of employees of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) staged a protest demonstration against proposed privatisation of the company in front of the Dijkot subdivision office on Friday.

The protesters carried placards and banners and chanted slogans against the government.

The protesters locked out all FESCO offices in Dijkot.

Addressing the protesters, Wapda Hydro Employees Union Dijkot Chairman Shafaqat Ali Gill said the government was planning to sell a profitable company.

He said the government had jeopardised the future of thousands of FESCO employees.

He said performance of FESCO workers has been excellent. He said the company had the least line losses among distribution companies in the Wapda network.

He said unilateral privatisation was unacceptable. He said FESCO workers would continue to protest till the government reversed its plans to privatise the company.
