LAHORE: Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday refused to take up a contempt of court petition against National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. The judge returned the petition to the chief justice to be fixed before Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan who had heard a related matter. The petitioner submitted that he had filed the petition challenging Article 45 – granting the president powers to pardon to any prisoner, and Article 248 providing protection to the president, the prime minister and governors from court proceedings. He said the court had sent the matter to the speaker but months later he had failed to make any decision. He requested the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the speaker for not implementing its order.
