PESHAWAR:

The K-P Assembly session lasted just three minutes on Monday before being adjourned by the speaker till May 19.

Unlike usual proceedings, the session started early as the speaker assumed his chair around 2:40pm. At the time, there were only six lawmakers: Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan, four women treasury members and one opposition member.

Soon after a recitation from the Holy Quran, PTI lawmaker Nagina Khan pointed to the lack of quorum. Consequently, Speaker Asad Qaiser asked the assembly bells to be rung for two minutes.

After a recount, Qaiser adjourned the session till May 19.

Galleries for media and government officials were also almost empty.

The speaker later told the media he would participate in the K-P government’s sit-in in Islamabad. Qaiser said PTI would continue raising its voice for the rights of K-P.
