Muhammad Amir marks comeback with wicket on first ball

KARACHI: Pakistan's left-arm fast-bowler Muhammad Amir made a return to domestic cricket with a wicket on the first legal ball of his over.

Amir, who was banned for five years for spot-fixing by the International Cricket Council (ICC), was allowed to participate in domestic cricket under the council's revised laws.

He was given the ball in the second over of the Cool & Cool Presents Haier Super8 T20 Cup Group A match between Abbottabad Falcons and Rawalpindi Rams.

Falcon's batsman Sajjad Ali was bamboozled by an in-swinging delivery from Amir on the score of nought as he saw his off-stump flying.

Earlier, the Rams opted to field first after winning the toss in a rain-delayed match. Amir started the over with a wide but he recovered well on the first legal ball to blow away the opposition batsman's stumps.

It is easy to point fingers on someone's mistakes. We are so haste in being judgemental about someone else that we totally overlook the faults of our own. Wake Up please and try to be a bit more patient.

At least he had the guys to confess unlike the other two or the ones who have been in the hide out. He confessed and paid the price. If people like Azharuddin, Jadeja can be welcomed by the board then I don't see any reason why Aamir can't esp when he has gone through the worst compared to any other cricketer out there. Can't wait to see him back in action! Pakistan Zindabad!!

@ BOB | 9 years ago | Reply laughing how indians disguised under western names commenting on this issue. Why is it burning them so much that amir is coming back. We all know very well the fixing and corruption in BCCI. Sreesnanth is an example, only a pity he isnt Kapil dev or Amir quality otherwise BCCI would have found a way to paint him innocent and bring him back.

usman777 | 9 years ago | Reply He was 17, a kid from the village from a lower-income class household. he was told by his "elders". in the match he gave his no-ball he got multiple wickets. he has paid his time in jail, in suspension. amir, you were a child before, now you are an adult. learn from your mistake and make a difference by showing your rehabilitation.

Bobb Mack | 9 years ago | Reply Glad to hear him back. I have no doubt he will forget what happened in the past and will prove to be a formidable balling asset for the sport. He will be under pressure to rebuild his cricketing but will need support of colleagues to regain confidence. Once the ICC clears him he must be included to national team for international matches with immediate effect. Those who have been opposing his return into the team for reasons of their own will need to review their opinion and not wish him what will essentially look like a life sentence. After all he was only a very young person at the time of conviction with still a potentially long career ahead.
