The much-anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 trophy tour began in Islamabad on Saturday, marking the start of a national journey for the prestigious silverware, which will visit seven Pakistani cities before November 25.

Pakistan, will host the ICC event next year in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi from February 19 to March 9. However, political tensions are already clouding the tournament, as India has refused to send its team to Pakistan.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) informed Pakistan last week of India’s decision, prompting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to request clarification. Unlike the Asia Cup’s hybrid model, where India’s matches were hosted in Sri Lanka, Pakistan has rejected the possibility of a shared hosting arrangement for the Champions Trophy.

Despite the uncertainty, ICC’s release of the tournament promo confirmed Pakistan as the host. “The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 Trophy Tour, delivered with DP World, will start in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Saturday,” the ICC stated.

“The prestigious silverware will journey across the eight participating nations during the tour, providing unique experiences for fans.”

The tour will take the trophy to Taxila and Khanpur on November 17, Abbottabad on November 18, Murree on November 19, Nathia Gali on November 20, and Karachi from November 22 to 25. It will then continue internationally, visiting Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, and India.

"A series of physical and digital engagements traversing iconic destinations, sporting events, and key battles in the international cricket calendar form the Trophy Tour schedule,” the ICC added.

The tour will be documented in a content series titled “Champion on Tour,” spotlighting the intersection of cricket with local culture, food, and music.

ICC Chief Commercial Officer Anurag Dahiya expressed enthusiasm for the launch of the tour, emphasising the fan experience.

“The silverware, showcased across all participating nations, will allow the sport’s passionate fanbase to enjoy the unforgettable experience of being up close with the iconic trophy,” he said.

This marks the first ICC Champions Trophy since 2017, when Pakistan claimed victory in a thrilling final against India. The last edition was held in England.
