MINGORA: Anti-corruption Establishment (ACE) Director Ziaullah Khan Toru has urged the province’s people to collaborate with the department to eliminate fraudulent practices from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

“The department is taking prompt action on public complaints against any institution,” said the director while addressing a public gathering at Wadudia Hall in Saidu Sharif on Thursday. “The anti-corruption department has seized around a billion rupees from various government organisations during the previous year.”

He requested the public to report to the ACE if they witness any such illegal activity happening around them.

In Malakand Division, corruption is rampant due to the timber mafia, he added. “A major operation would soon be launched to curtail timber smuggling,” said Toru. “Today we visited police stations in Swat to check their records and monitor the cases registered with them.” He said the district anti-corruption team has also seized records of Swat University to check if there are any corrupt elements working in the institute’s administration.

Toru added the department will entertain all complaints sent to them through phone calls, email or letters. “I expect the people of Swat to come forward and play their role in ridding the society of corruption.”
