LG polls: Over 70 disqualified from contesting

HANGU: On grounds of their involvement in criminal and anti-social activities, at least 76 aspirants from various parts of Hangu district have been disqualified from contesting the upcoming local government elections. Hangu Deputy Commissioner Syed Mujeebur Rehman and DPO Anwar Saeed Kundi, through a notification issued on Wednesday, listed the names of all 76 aspirants who had filed nomination papers for various offices in the LG setup. Moreover, cases were booked against the disqualified candidates under various sections and clauses of the Criminal Procedure Code and Pakistan Penal Code. The disqualified persons include Rabia Bibi and Bhag Singh from Doaba. Most of these candidates belong to different political parties such as PML-N, JUI-F, JUI-S, ANP and PPP.
